Dice your yellow onions and mince garlic. Set aside. Finely chop fresh basil and oregano
In a pan over medium heat, add olive oil, and sweat down onion garlic, and add fresh thyme; about 5 minutes. Remove sprigs of thyme if desired.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, basil and oregano. Season with salt and sugar. Let simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Before serving, you may want to add a little more salt to taste. Serve with your favorite pasta dish and enjoy!

I like to make my tomato base nice and smooth. This is optional, but use a food mill or vegetable strainer to smooth our your crushed tomatoes to give this a nice texture!
